It's official: Sheldon Adelson wrote my opponent a million-dollar check. Well, technically he didn't give it to my opponent; he gave the million dollars to an unaccountable SuperPAC associated with Connie Mack that will use it to attack me any way they can.
And how did we know for sure? The group had to disclose it in their latest FEC finance report, filed this week.
Unfortunately, while we know about Adelson, there's now a lot of political spending that currently goes undisclosed. When the Supreme Court ruled to allow unlimited secret donations from corporations, it opened the floodgates to big-money special interests dominating our political process. But it doesn't have to be this way.
Today I'm asking you to join me and more than a dozen of my Democratic Senate colleagues in supporting the DISCLOSE Act, a bill in Congress that would require corporations and other organizations to report their political spending. The American people would be able to see who is funding which groups supporting which candidates.
We have to act quickly: The DISCLOSE Act is coming up for a vote on the Senate floor on Monday, and I hope I can count on you to show your support.

If there's one thing we know in Florida, it's the difference a little sunshine can make. Disclosure matters. Sheldon Adelson may flaunt the millions he spends to elect right-wing Republicans, but most big donors prefer life in the shadows, where no one will know what they're up to.
The DISCLOSE Act would shine light into those dark corners. It would ensure that we know exactly where money being dumped into races is coming from -- and it would keep a lot of money out of politics as people decide they don't want their names in the papers supporting extremist candidates.
The last time the bill came in front of the Senate, Republicans blocked passage, hoping that not enough people cared about this issue. Well I know that people do care, and this is our chance to send a powerful message that Americans want their elections to be open and fair.
Click here today to show your support for the DISCLOSE Act, before Monday's critical vote in the Senate -- and help shine some light on the secret donors who want to buy our elections.
Thanks for your help on this vitally important issue. I know we can make a difference together.
